The maker of ChatGPT is looking to curb cheating with a new tool that can help teachers detect if a student or AI wrote that paper.
The new AI Text Classifier launched Tuesday by OpenAI follows discussions over fears that ChatGPT’s ability to write just about anything on command could fuel academic dishonesty and hinder research and academia.
OpenAI has stressed the limitations of its detection tool on their blog, but said that in addition to deterring plagiarism, it could help to detect automated disinformation campaigns and other misuses of AI to mimic humans.
The longer a passage of text, the better the tool is at detecting if an AI or human wrote something.
Will this affect marketers?
IMO; I have a feeling that Google isn’t going to love that every SEO Marketer and Content Marketer is using ChatGBT to optimize their website. If OpenAI has a way to detect AI content, Google won’t be far behind and I can see this causing a wave of pages being De-indexed.
